Personal spending habits
Taking the currency into account, cost of life was pretty expensive but liveable. Nightlife could get pretty expensive, especially if you frequent popular bars. Housing was less expensive due to CAF assistance.

Personal comments
Be prepared to pay more than expected for social security, insurance and residence deposits. Be sure that the insurance they are asking you to pay for is really necessary. You may find yourself paying for something you already have from home.

Academic
Course recommendations
Expect many changes to the course calendars, including timetable changes and course cancellations. It may be difficult to organize the timetable, seeing how most international students take courses from different cycles.

Personal comments
You will most likely be working in groups consisiting of French and international students. This will probably be the best way to get to know the French students. They were very friendly and helpful when it came to projects and asssignments.

It may be difficult at first, but once you start attending lectures, and really integrating yourself into the French culture, you shouldn't have any problems. Word of advice: Try your best to avoid speaking in English to the international students!

Housing
Type of housing: A room exchange
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
By sharing an apartment with a roommate, it would have been a lot more spacious, and better facilities, all for the same price as that of my residence.

Personal comments
If it were not for the CAF assistance, the rent for this type of residence would have been extremely high (taking into account the dismal conditions).

Ayer's Rock - great music, but sometimes repetitive. Also, check out all the "boat" clubs like Sirius, Marquaise, etc.
