Personal social experience
Personal comments
There's a really nice jazz bar in St Michel called "Caveaux des Oubliettes" (sorry if the spelling is wring!). It is a tiny place with different artists every night, best to go on the weekend. Great spot if you want to chill with your friends and listen to some good music. Good thing: free entry but you have to drink (which wasn't bad because the drinks were quite cheap!)

Personal comments
I actually took all of my courses in English because I wanted to try and use my knowledge of the French language that I had from school and university. I can say that my comprehension of the language has improved, but my speaking not so much but that is really down to the individual to make a conscious effort to talk to the locals.

Academic
Course recommendations
If you're able to take courses in the foreign lanuage then I would recommend that you do it. It's an interesting way to learn about their way of learning/ teaching and you can also meet students from the host university this way.

Going to a university in Paris is quite stressful if you're used to a very efficient administration team...if you can get through the first month or so dealing with all the admin dilemas then you'll be fine!

Expenses
Main source of funding:
Government assistance
Other sources of funding:
An ERASMUS grant
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits
Obviously most things were cheaper for me because I'm from the UK. The only thing that was more was the housing, but this was because it was a private company for accomodation; but it was worth it!

In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
I don't really have one, it did and didn't meet my expectations of what it would have been like as an institution. I don't really think that it is a suitable match sociall for students coming from Kingston University as our social life is a lot better. Academically, the courses were good. I would say that I had a good educational experience.

During my experience abroad, I ...
(1) Never – (4) A lot
Became familiar with another culture
Met people from other countries
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies & career
Final comments
To sum up my stay at Dauphine University and Paris itself, I would say that I have had a good experience of other cultures, and it has been great to meet so many different people through ERASMUS and other countries! My advice would be to not have too many expectations as you may be disappointed in some areas;(dependant on your home lifestyle/ experiences).
Other than that, be open minded and take the time to absorb the culture, travel, meet people and have fun!!
I hope that you all get what you want from travelling and studying abroad!
