There was this reggea spot called Bar Sextius I believe that was alot of fun. Someone else mentioned Le Mistral but I found it overpriced and overrated. To be honest there are a good amount of clubs open until 2am, then everything shuts down. Realize too that alot of the clubs are run by the mofia so clubs change hands in mysterious and often brutal ways. For example, one owner was killed and the club set on fire one night I was in town. Basically, ask the students who live there at the moment. Regardless, there is alot of nightlife to be found and enjoyed every night of the week, Just remember, pre-drinking is key as drink can and do get expensive.

Where to start? I'm french but always lived abroad, so I am more of a international person. I chose to go back to France for personal reasons and I chose this Uni. At first Aix was a cute city and relaxing, as I've always lived in big cities before. But you'll end up realizing what kind of city it is, what kind of people are surrounding you and how the atmosphere in french unis are absolutely disastrous. Within the universities, there's a BDE, which takes cares of organizing a few parties which takes place mostly in clubs in town. Is is over priced for what it offers. So basically, absolutely no on campus life, and bars outside of aix can be nice but unfortunately they close at 2am, and theres only 1 club: Mistral, that ABSOLUTELY SUCKS. The only place id hang out at who'd be at The Wohoo which is right next to the IEP up north. There's plenty of exchange students there which is really nice and relaxing as local french people in aix are detestable and contemptuous. The city is so small, there's absolutely nothing to do during day time, mostly sit in cafe's doing nothing. If theres one advice I could give you is not to go there if you are sicking for North american type of student life and studies combined. Everything takes place outside campus, and if you don't meet the right people... good luck.

As far as the best clubs go, Aix only has a few to offer, and the best of those would be le Mistral. For an afterhours bar, Le Bistro Aixois is the winner. Cafes: Any of those in la place Richalm near the post office are great, as are those in the Place d´hotel de ville. They are generally cheaper than those along the Cours Mirabeau.

The Red Clover was our usual hang out spot, but also Bugsy was fun. After closing time, everybody would go to Bistro Aixoise, where the girls can dance on the bar. Nightlife in Aix is amazing, alive and sparkling!

There are lots of great bars, cafes and night clubs in and around Marseille. One of the best is situated on the cost line, called "marinaise". Otherwise in the town centre there is a little retro place called Trolleybus, the bars are too many to list!

Le Divino was a club outside of Aix that was pretty good. Then, there are good restaurants scattered a bit everywhere. The one I always went to: La Pizza.
