food is much cheaper if u go to the small shops, cell phones have great plans because of all the competition among companies, and my room in res was very very cheap. travel was amazing, you could fly with RYANAIR (check online) and go anywhere for reallly cheap

I wish I had known...
never fall asleep on a train....if your passport gets stolen u are dead meat..there are frequent strikes at the post office and train staion, always have an alternate plan!!

Its best to make plans with a CANADIAN host university b4 u go so that u can be sure to get your credits transferred. perpignan is really disorganized and i once called there to get my marks faxed back to canada and the univetrsity doesnt even own a fax machine..get everything in writing before u leave france!!

the train is great for travel, cheap and convenient, you have to visit Collioure, a small fishing town about 20 minutes away by train, its the most amazing place ever!! beware of pickpokets and gypsies!

they speak catalan in perpignan, its like an ancient spanish langauge. its difficult, so try to stay away from it and learn french instead
