Recomendaciones de cursos
If you are in Lettres Modernes, choose your classes carefully and make sure you allow enough time to change if you want to, because if you're stuck with a teacher you don't particularly get on with or the course content doesn't suit you, it'll be better too late to change if you leave it too long.

I would choose courses where there is more 'controle continu', because it's very difficult to revise everything for one exam at the end of the year.

Strasbourg is an ideal place to study in if you are studying French and German, because the city is on the very border of Germany, so you have the opportunity to go into Kehl(the nearest German town) and speak German. In any case there are an enormous amount of German speakers here(although most refuse to speak anything other than French!) and there is also German radio available.

Valoración global
Si lo hubiera sabido...
That Strasbourg was the second most expensive cituy after Paris! Also, I wish I had known that it was possible to undertake a 'stage' in LEA - the departmet with which I was registered.

Ensure that you plan your year abroad carefully as regards courses, modules, etc.
The same applies to your budget(perhaps even more so!)
Think about getting a part-time job throughout the year so that you won't have trouble looking for jobs in the summmer if you intend to stay until September. To apply for jobs, it is best to arrive in the August before your year abroad.
Overall, my year abroad experience was very challenging but very, very positive and I would recommend Strasbourg to anyone planning to study in France. Strasbourg is a very multi-national, multi-cultural city, where you'll make some of the greatest friendships and have the best time of your life.

Costumbres personales de gasto
I spent less on food than at home because although I did eat out quite frequently, I was able to eat at the 'Resto U', which costs under 2 pounds for a 3-course meal! I spent more on my mobile phone than back in the UK (I think!) because of phone calls to friends and fa;ily in the UK. Housing here is 4 times cheaper than in the South of England; I spent just as much money on going out as I do back home! Strasbourg is at the heart of Europe so it would have been a shame to waste an opportunity to visit all those wonderful Benelux countries, so I spent quite a fair amount on travelling!

Comentario personal
Be prepared to spend around 2000 Euros on intial expenses(travel, accommodation, registration, acquisition of various cards, etc.) Also make sure that you plan your budget before leaving for your host country or you'll soon find that you've spent your ERASMUS grants and student loan all at once!

Alojamiento
Tipo de alojamiento: En el campus
Organizado por: Universidad de intercambio
Si volviera, eligiría: En el campus
¿Por qué?
It's cheaper than back home, you meet loads of people and it's close to the centre of town

The accommodation was very cheap but I would have liked a common room for evryone to meet up and get to know each other. I hardly knew anyone on my floor and it was only through a friend of mine who was living in the same building, that I got to know people pn her floor

The Irish Times if you want English TV! The Trou is the place to go on Monday nights during the term; the 3 Brasseurs if you want cheap food and the Rafiot or the Salamandre if you want to go clubbing.
