Personal spending habits
The amounts I spent while living in Lille were overall higher than my normal spedings at home. The causes for such a difference in the expenditure level were either the difference between the standards of living (for accommodation, the rent being more expensive than in Romania) or the fact that I've travelled more than I usually do in my own country. During my staying in France, I had a great chance to visit new places, both in France and the neighboring countries.

Fortunately, no negative surprises. And, due to the small amount granted under the Tempus scholarship, no pleasant surprises either; still, the food is very cheap, the libraries are full of good books and you can have fun even by not spending too much.

in my school you really don't need text books. you have to make your own notes. if you want to apply for a telephone, be carefull because they will try to take a lot of money from you. and be on time to close your phone before you leave to go back home.

At home I still lived with my mother and I only had to pay her a small amount per month. Abroad I had to pay really everything myself. Travelling was a little more expensive, because in our home country you can travel for free when you're a student.

Save some money before you go abroad, because you spend more money than you think and the Erasmus grant isnt very much.

I think on average prices are a little higher than in Belgium, but e.g. you can eat at university for only 2,6 euros. Telephone (mobile) tariffs are quite more in France.
