Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Honestly, I have been very lucky. I found this place from France without visiting it before. And it turned out to be OK. I share the appartment with a friend of mine who was also on the same exchange programme.

Academic
Course recommendations
Technical translation courses- economics and legal- were very interesting. As well as History of translation. Classes for ONLY Erasmus students very quite boring. Class of "analisis del discurso espanol", or something like that, was awfully boring. All translation classes interested me the most.

Personal comments
I guess I was a particular case. Being a student in translation, I already had more knowledge in languages than others ERASMUS students who were on a language programme and not translation. Some courses were more adapted to them. Translation courses were fairly good. At that time the 4-year level was not created yet, since the translation section was only 3 years old. I would have like to study at an advanced level.

I wish I had known...
Everything was OK. I can't remember any problems I encountered. Just keep in mind, that medical services are not great. My friend was rushed to hospital back in France.

I really like this university in brand new buildings at the time. They offer good training, follow job market trends, offer 4th year specialization... Definitely a good choice

Final comments
I rented a car and drove upnorth on the catalonian cost to Cadaques, visited Olot (old medieval translation center), Figueres, and other nice villages. I had a great time. Barcelone has a lot to offer- montains, sea, nice countryside...

Personal spending habits
Well, the occasions to party in Barcelona are numerous, and you can't refuse ! It's the perfect way to meet people, talk and improve your language skills. I had no telephone in my appartment, so I had to call from a telephone booth which is rather expensive. Since I was leaving with my parents before going to BCN, and that my parents paid my rent for my BCN appartment, the question was not easy to answer.

I stayed in Barcelone for 3 months only. I was then to go on another exchange programme in Edinburgh, Scotland. In 3 months, I made progress significantly but not enough to appear as a true local. Hanging out with locals definitely helps to improve everyday language and slang!!!
