Food is much cheaper in spain - cost of living is way below that of Britain. Most calls I made were international - made with a Eurodirect phonecard - but spent quite alot this way, also I normally text friends but it was expensive to do this internationally! Also I wouldn't normally travel that much at home - in spain i took advantage of my position and the accessibility to the country! Therefore this expenditure was irregular to normal living costs!

Carnet joven - you get discounts on public transport (Bonojoven - tam office), at the cinema and others! Also shop in Lidl in San Vicente - it's economical and really not as bad as everyone thinks!

The university is wonderful, the campus is beautiful and the teachers are wonderful. The teachers take any extra time that you need to explain something that you don´t understand.

Travel tips: pack lightly, no more than two bags, be ready for a completely different schedule of meals and nightlife. Make sure you travel, take advantage of being in a new place. Bring a journal and record your thoughts and experiences. You think you might remember it all, but you don´t and it is so fun to read that journal and travel back to those times. This has been the best experience in my life. Beware of becoming addicted to studying abroad because I didn´t want to come home to the US.

Luis O
United Arab Emirates, Graduate
, 2019
Overall

I spent more on accommodation, because my host family charged a bundle for me to stay there. But if you live in an apartment on your own or with other students, it is a lot cheaper. When I was there, they didn't have the euro yet, so clothes and travel, etc. were generally cheaper. I loved shopping there!

You can save a lot of money by walking. Almost everywhere in Alicante is within 30 minutes walking distance. I walked to the beach almost every day after class. It burned off calories and was a fun walk anyway along the coast and past all of my favorite stores!

I wish I had known...
Well UA was quite an experience for me. First thing - what i was told it will be had nothing to do with what it really was. I was supposed to have half of my classes in English - i had them all in Spanish. The organization here is ridiculous it is like in a state of war. i had more problems fixing the 6-7 documents than getting my exams. the website of the university is ONLY in Spanish and is also ridiculous with its 100000000 options - good luck with finding whatever. Nobody here speaks Spanish - it is just full of erasmus/exchange students. lots of US... for all my time here i barely know any Spanish people. Another thing - at some moment through the semester i found i was given much more pressure on than some friends of mine - it turned out that for some reason Computer Science students have 10 times more work than the others. overall - it was shocking - not bad but... weird : )) do not expect just easy time if u study IT : )

Live in Alicante not in San Vicente. Learn Spanish prior to coming here.

I was housed through 'Houses for you' managing director Javier Ornia. they are the dirtiest most unproffesional, disgusting company I have ever delt with and are threatening and intimidatory. The company is run by idiots and the service they offer is worse than anyone can imagine.
