if you really have to pass the courses, choose courses with final papers and with exams! in the guesthouse: don't choose the ARC-Building! don't panic in the first 2 weeks, when you see the workload! :)

Student life in Maastricht
Catherine D
Netherlands, Undergraduate
Business Studies, 2022
Overall
Overall, I love my student life in Maastricht or Maasi. It is full of students, a lot of bikes and really nice people.
From a study point of view, you have to know yourself as the work depends on how much you are able to manage your time. If you don't know or control your time management, you will fail for sure but otherwise if you do so, you will enjoy even more your time in Maasi. The teachers are very professional and proper experts. We have a tutor system in which the proper professors are the course coordinators so it is not that probable that you will have him/her as a tutor but otherwise the tutor are very nice and have a complete knowledge of the subject. They are usually around your age so you feel even more connected to them and you feel very comfortable participating in class. Because yes, that is also a particularity of Maastricht, the PBL system in which you prepare cases and you have to talk and give your opinion about it. It's all about sharing.
Now before corona hits the city, it was awesome to go to the lake or enjoy a chill nights in the city center or to go to complex a big nightclub on the Thursday.
I highly recommend this city and this university

I wish I had packed better for the cold wet Netherlands weather. Don't casually take any econometrics classes - the are pretty much doctorate level.

An incredible international experience. Though I learned little about the Netherlands per se, I met people from all around the world, and continue to keep in contact with some of my best friends from my time at Maastricht. The schoolwork is tough, but the presentation and writing projects gave me valuable practical experience. The school also had quite a good reputation, especially for economics and econometrics.
