Housing
Type of housing: Room in an host university residence
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: same: room in the same residence
Why?
I would choose the same residence because it was really convenient (close to university, to central London, TV room, computer room,...)

Personal comments
The university proposes different kind of residence (close to university or not, different prices, self cathering or not, etc...). Most of the time, the student can choose the residence he wants. But make sure you choose the right one from the beginning because after it is quite hard to change from one university to another...

It is quite hard to give one or two "best places" because London has got a lot (pubs, nightclub, parks, museums, etc...). The UCL student union as well as the University of London Union (ULU) which includes UCL also provides good pubs and sport facilities at competitive prices.

Personal recommendation
I think I made the right choice when I decided to go to UCL, because of its location (central London), its academic performances (3rd or 4th university in UK in overall). I would then recommend to anyone to go to UCL, they won't regret it.

The final project we had to do and the end of the Master was 90% of the time an academic project. I would have prefered to do a project in an industrial company.

Most of the time the ERASMUS exchange is possible only if the student has already got a good knowledge of the language he/she will have to speak in the host university, which can be a problem if you goal is to learn (or improve) this language. Otherwise, I had some problems at the beginning but everyone (Professors, other students,...) were aware of that and helped me improve my skills.

Personal spending habits
The life in London is quite expensive, especially in central London. The accomodation for example was more expensive than the one I had in France even if it was in an University residence. My nightlife in London was also more "active" than the one I had in France and then I obviously spent more money on it.

A good surprise was the rapidity to find a "local job". The university has a lot of opportunities in terms of cathering (waiter in pub or restaurant is one of the most popular job) and any other job. Most of them take you 1 day a week or 2-3 evenings or more, it really depends on the amount of money you need. The university also has good relationships with local companies who are always looking for people to employ for a short time.
