There are several really cool pubs and clubs in Edmonton. On Campus: RATT (karoke on wednesday, really cool and much fun) Hudsons (on campus): nice pub, irish atmosphere, every day a special (cheap food or beer, highballs) Iron Horse (side street of Whyte Ave): dance club, cool

The International House on the Campus of the U of A was great way to live although cleanliness could have been better and the room space was pretty limeted. But what makes this facility so special is its community, the people who live in there and the international spirit that can be felt in every corner of this house!!!

I spent more because it was my intention to enjoy my time in Canada as intensly as I could, to make the best out of it, to see the country and go out as often as I could. Furthermore books, alcohol (high taxes) and food were more expensive than in my homecountry.

Before going out to pubs or night clubs it is highly recommended to predrink at home as otherwise the night could turn out to be a cash killer.

In my opinion academic life is very workintense as you have to write a lot of papers and you have to study hard for the midterms and finals. But if you set up a schedule and stick to it, you should be successful.

Actually I was pretty well informed beforehand. Furthermore the university offered orientation days where the most important information was provided.

Campus life is great and especially the International House offers a great cross cultural experience. I can highly recommend this university for everybody! I had a great time and don´t wanna miss at all.

If you want to travel a lot and see the nature and area around Edmonton it would be a good a idea to get togehter in small group and buy a cheap car together. As distances are very long and grocery shopping can be very exhausting an own car could boost convenience.
