Housing
Type of housing: The International House, where 400 students live.
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: At International House again.
Why?
Because I knew other places when I was there, and from my point of view the International House is the best place to stay. I have made real friend, and people in general is opened and decent.

I have had troubles at first because I chose a place through host university, and the place was really bad, so I had to break the contract and find a place by my own. My advice is to visit several places before making a decission. Living in the International House was one of the best experiences of my life.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
Closer interaction with other students. Anyway I was happy about being independent, having my own schedule and a quiet space to study. Besides, my apartement was virtually on campus.

It is nicely managed by a department of the University, and through the web page they have an international student like me can easily get in touch with subletters, etc. This one facility they have, the International House, I think it's great for a summer stay.

I had a hard time studing in one month a four-month course, but it's worthy.
For the airport, The Oakland international airport is nearer than the San Francisco ones, so....
My last advice, if go if you are a non-US citizen, are not 21, do not go because you will not be allowed to get in a pub or buy a beer. So wait until you will be 21.

Despite the high cost of housing in Berkeley, it's still far better to live off campus, especially if you are older than the freshers: the age gap is far greater in terms of experience across cultures.

Generally ok, although Berkeley is sickeningly expensive: get as many housemates/ room, ates as possible!
