The University system was highly efficient, and easy to get to grips with. The sports facilities at UNCG were fantastic, this appeared to encourage participation and support. On a professional level, the lecturers made the classes very interesting and enjoyable and on a personal level were supportive and understanding. The people who I met and befriended were incredibly wecoming and friendly, and joining a sorority gave me an intersting insight into an important aspect of American University life. The overall experience greatly enhanced my social capabilities, confidence and academic perspective. WhenI left, I left behind some of the best friends I have ever had and took with me some of the most wonderful memories imaginable!

As well as being a highly acclaimed educational establishment (particularly the Bryan School of Business) the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, provided an ideal setting to get to know a lot of poeople very quickly, both through classes and campus activities. I particularly enjoyed my exposure to the southern culture and the accessibilty to the other Southern States. I loved it and I am looking forward to returning to work after I graduate from University!

I wish I had known...
I wish that I had been more aware to the extent to which North Carolina is in the 'Bible Belt'. It was an eye-opening and very interesting experience for me to live there - however, there were a lot of cultural/moral issues that I did not expect. I also wish I had known how important it is to have a car there, public transport is not very widespread.

It si not the biggest party University, but it does have a good balance of work/play! The Internatuional Programme Centre is an amazing resource and should be used to its full extent

Try and buy flights when your over there as the dollar/pound exchange rate works in favour of UK residents. Join a sports team to see the country. Be open minded and don't let experiences go past you.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
In the first semester, it was ideal to live on campus to meet new people. But as I made more friends, I thought that living outwith the University grounds would be exciting and different. As most of my friends were juniors and seniors, not many of them lived on campus still and therefore I was alwayts travelling to their houses.

I found living in dorms and exciting experience. Having never shared a room beofre, it was intersting to me to see how I would cope with living with another person in such close quarters. It was amazing! I had a brilliant time, and it was good to have someone else there. I could not live for an extended time in the dorms, but for a year it was perfect!

I joined a sorority - not the conventional exchange student route, but a brilliant experience! I mostly ate, shopped, went to sporting events and out at night with my sorority "sisters" and the people I met through the "greek" system on campus. Thursday nights at the "Corner Bar" are a must, particularly for business students! Weekend trips to Wilmington or Myrtle beach were also particularly memorable.

I felt that my year at UNCG improved my oral communication skills, as I became increasingly willing to take part class discussions and also took advantage of joining study groups through which my ability to formulate and communicate my point of view was greatly improved. I felt that my written writing skills did not improve during the year, but did not suffer as a result either.

Academic
Course recommendations
The marketing courses there are the best I have ever experienced! The professors could not be more helpful. International Marketing is a very challenging, but VERY interseting and useful elective.

I think the course over there is amazing. I can hardly think of improvements - maybe just more information on courses when picking from your home university.
