Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
some of the campus' rules are stupid and limit the freedom of choice to socialize

it takes too long to transffer money to the South African account from the one abroad, so better have your own credit card, because you can pay with it almost everywhere as well as cash out

Academic
Course recommendations
be carefull when choosing Management Accounting (RK 302), it requires a lot of work and is difficult. if you are interested in Marketing, i would suggest International Marketing and Management Strategy (EBM 305). though it requires quite a bit of work, it's very interesting and the professor is very good

Personal comments
students at the university are responsible for their actions, so i don't think their absents should be marked and it's their own responsibility to do the homework or not. that is what they should change i think

organize a bit more activities for the international students. they need a big administrative system change in the whole university too (it would take too long to explain everything)

Final comments
it's a great country, so try to take as much as you can by traveling, trying to know natives and help them to develop (at the townships). don't go to the areas you are told not to, so you can avoid the trouble.

there is no problems communicating with professors and other students if you speak English. some of the people from the townships might not speak English, but it's not so often you can meet them either, so most of the time i felt comfortable about the language
