Stellenbosch University
Bradley G
South Africa, Graduate
Financial Management, 2015
Overall
A very practical degree which focused on understanding the Financial sector and provided many practical examples and projects in which forced us to understand and value companies.

A good social enviroment, staff are very supportive, even with a thesis

Talk with the local students about your opinion on the bad situation of the black population of South Africa and they will never talk to you again. I am not black myself but worked as a volenteer in the township of Stellenbosch through ISOS, the International Student Organisation of Stellenbosch which was a great experience not te be missed. Discrimination is still a big issue in South Africa.

You do not have a lot of classes throughout the year and are expected to do a lot of selfstudy which I describe as cheap education!

Industrial Engineering at Stellenbosch University
Adrianne H
South Africa,
Engineering, 2021
Overall
This industrial engineering department specifically could not be run better. The administration and all the peripherals make for an effortless student experience. The coursework itself is very thorough and proved to be a significant challenge. The coursework covers project and product management, manufacturing and processes, data analytics and operations management.

I was following MBA classes and chose the classes I thought were best. Since I am only a graduate in Belgium, I was expecting more from this high level MBA..It all depends on your choice of classes actually, choose well!

Lots of academic papers to write by the end of the quarter. Very interesting to learn to do high level research papers. However, I would have enjoyed less papers to write and more interractions with teachers, such as oral exams...

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
It is important to note that the Business School is located on the MBA campus located in Bellville, not in Stellenbosch! Since Main Campus (=15.000 students) is there, Bellville is rather small.. Should have taken housing in Stellenbosch, with 30minutes driving (not much). This doesn't mean that nice places in Bellville can't be found (mine was absolutly great..with other exchange students, lots of fun) but wasn't like Campus life can be.

It is a nice place to be. You have to be wise and face the main business which is academics because there are a lot of distractions.
