Nightlife is VERY expensive, so people tended to invite people to their home to socialise. Tickets for events were also costly. Fresh vegetables are also expensive.Calling home cost alot, but good internet access offset this.

Be very careful to supply a date of leaving to your housing company. You must send them written confirmation at the start of your last month. Many students were charged an extra months rent because they were a few days late in supplying notice of their leaving. The housing system is quite rigid in its application of contracts.

The main reason is evident: Finland is more expensive than Spain, specially in food and drinks. I spent more in travelling just because in Spain I din't travel and in telephone because it is more expensive make international phones (but I spent less money when I phoned with my finnish number to finnish numbers too. The housing was cheaper because of the model of housing for students in Finland.

Well, food and alcohol is more expensive. For me housing is more expensive becuase I live at home, but TOAS is not too expensive, believe me. In other cities of Finlands it gets really a lot of money.

I am trying to get to know which is for life and which is for pleasure. Both are important, but there's always "priority". I was working as a correspondence for a Korean magazine during last semester, and that helped me a lot.
