Stjepan Radic student home is a typical building from the communist era. Nobody would want to live their for a longer period of time. Its main attration is the tiny cost.

During day time there is of course Tkalciceva street that host lots of good cafes. Nice Viennese atmosphere can be found in the cafe Kasaliste next to the theatre. Best food in town in the Fellini restaurants.

If you go to Croatia, go to Dubrovnik and Split. These are wonderful towns! Prepare youself that Zagreb is a city by number of inhabitants, but it has a very rural caracter.

Food and communication is more expensive than in Austria. As there are no kitchens in the students dorms, you always have to go to the cafeteria. going out is much cheaper than in Austria. So you can do it more frequently and still save money.

In Croatia you can survive speaking English. Whenever somebody doesn't speak English, everybody is willing to interpret. Unfortunately the English skills of most Croatians are not good enough for a more detailed conversations in a bar or cafe. Most Croatian do not have enough patience to talk with foreigners speaking some Croatian.
