English was the language of communication in most of the situations 4 me. I've been learnin and speakin it for 11 years now. There were no problems with it. As to the Czech, well, it was very easy 2 understand it - in many ways Russian and Czech are similar. The problem was to speak, but anyway, after 2 weeks I was able 2 say what I want in a restaurant or cafe of in a shop. I think if I had stayed in the country longer I would have been able 2 speak Czech after around 6-8 months.

Most students speak english, although english knowlege is almost exclusive to students. Some other people speak German or Russian. In the beggining I tried to learn the local language, but couldn't manage to find a teacher. The exchange students' support staff wasn't very helpfull in this. Only very near to the end of my stay I found that only a few steps from my residence was a language school with classes of Czech for foreigners.
