Housing
Type of housing: Student accommodation centre (Studentenheim)
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
If I went back to Vienna I would hope to be working there. Therefore I would be able to pay more for rent and get more privacy. Also I now know my way around Vienna and so wouldnt ask the host Uni to help me find accommodation.

The "Studentenheim" that I lived in was truthfully second to none. My friends and I had no complaints at all throughout the year.Other than that I know that the University itself was very willing to help those students who were finding it difficult to find accommodation.

The irish oubs were all good especially Charlie P's and Flanagan's. The university ball and any gigs organised by the college were always great. Maria's Cantene was a cool cheap nightclub to go to.

Academic
Course recommendations
If you are an erasmus student try to do those courses organised by "ZAS" as they tend to be a lot easier than other courses for exchange students.

Personal comments
There should have been more consideration for exchange students who wanted to study German courses. It was also very frustrating to find out that there were no clubs (eg. Football) to join within the college.

Go to Krakow in Poland, skiing in Innsbruck, Interlaken in Switzerland, Prague in Czech Republic, Croatia and the Oktoberfeat in Munich, Germany. Get a VorteilsKarte(half price train tickets). Travel out to the Vienna outskirts as they are lovely.

As there were a lot of foreign students there weho didnt actually speak German, it sometimes got a little frustrating when you tried to speak German to the local students. They would recognise your English accent and so speak German to you thinking you had no German at all. However when I made Austrian friends, they would always try to speak German to me.
