Housing
Type of housing: so called Hasook-schip or Boarding House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Korean Hasook-schips are the best to live in.
Why?
Personal comments
There are many hasook-ships around Yonsei University. You pay anywhere from 300 to 500 dollars per month which includes home made meals, and laundry service. (Great! The International Dorm at Yonsei has no meal plan, and so when you stay at in a boarding house, you don't have to care about going out to restaurants for food. I like to have my space and freedom, and so boarding house is my choice. However, if it is your first time at Yonsei, stay in the dorm, and then look for a boarding house.

Personal comments
There are so many clubs, bars, cafes in Seoul. People here love to go out, and have fun! The Yonsei University District called Shinchon is filled with thousands of young people everyday, and therefore one can find just the perfect place to go out with the perfect atmosphere. There is definitely an unique culture here, combining old asian tradition with the new fast paced techno world. As a European I have enjoyed it very much!

Overall
I wish I had known...
Although you can get almost anything in Seoul, I suggest you bring your medicine that you are used to (anything from Aspirin to Tylenol and etc), bring also your favorite deodorant, shampoo, shower-gel, and other hygiene products.
Don't forget presents from your home country that will be helpful when meeting with Korean friends.

If you learn Korean, it opens a whole new world for you--people in East Asia value when you show some effort to learn and understand their language and culture. Yonsei University has a Korean Language Institute - without a doubt, the best in Korea. You will find here people from all around the world!

Personal spending habits
The exchange rate of Euro fell down considerably, and so did the German Mark. The best advice is to bring US dollars...piles of it!:) In Seoul, which is a gigantic metropolis of 12 million people, the money goes out very fast!
