The (COMPANY NAME) Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Logistics, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world.
This internship is located in the Project Management and Planning Unit (PMPU) within the Technology Development, Design and Planning Section (TDDPS) under the Service for Geospatial, Information and telecommunications Technologies (SGITT) in the (COMPANY NAME) Information and Communications Technologies Facility (UNICTF) in Valencia, Spain.
The TDPPS is responsible for the development of projects and services that satisfy the requirements that the Department of Operational Support (DOS) undertakes.
The Project Management and Planning Unit (PMPU) is a central pillar of the TDDPS and is responsible for the development of Project Management and Project Planning projects that satisfy the requirements of the Department of Operational Support (DOS) missions and filed office through the use of standard project management methods for Technology projects.
The SGITT/TDDPS/Project Management and Planning Unit (PMPU) Internship is for a maximum period of six (6) months in Valencia, Spain. Two posts are available.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (37.5 hours).
The incumbent will work under the direct guidance of the Chief Project Management and Planning Unit (PMPU) and Chief Technology Development, Design & Planning Section (TDDPS) at UNICTF in Valencia, Spain and will perform the following duties:
- Assist in developing and analyzing project proposals and when required develop and study Business Cases;
- Assist in creating required standard project's documents, such as: Project Mandate, Project Initiation Document (PID), Risk and/or Issues Registry using the approved templates;
- Assist in developing and maintaining the Project Implementation Plan;
- Assist in implementing project plans, meeting the established timelines and milestones within tolerances set by the project board;
- Support team colleagues in drafting, preparing and updating all related project documents as required in UNGSC Project Management;
- Assist in monitoring projects on a regular basis, evaluating progress and quality, reporting issues and following resolution process to ensure corrective actions are taken;
- Support team colleagues in maintaining the quality of all document/data to assure the integrity of a project;
- Report, analyze data and communicate projects progress using approved reporting templates;
- Support team colleagues in coordinating schedule of activities related to the assigned project,
- Support team colleagues in organizing meetings to communicate individuals' roles, project expectations, ensuring that all project team members have the tools required to perform effectively;
- Other duties as required.

To qualify for an internship with the (COMPANY NAME) Internship Programme, applicants must meet one the following requirements:
- be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
- be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or
- have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation;
- be computer literate in standard software applications;
- have interest in the work of the (COMPANY NAME) and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
- have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views;
- Project Management, Information Technology, Business Administration studies or related studies.
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the Programme, however one to two (1-2) years of experience in strategy, consulting, technology innovation and finance is desirable.

English or French are the working languages of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the Internship. Knowledge of another official (COMPANY NAME) language, or the language of the duty station is desirable.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time (i.e. an intern is expected to work five days per week (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) and there should be no expectation of employment within the UN after an internship. Interns shall not be eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, positions at the professional level and above carrying international recruitment status in the Secretariat for a period of six months following the end of their internship.
