Job Description:

The OOSA International Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (ICG) Executive Secretariat Section and the Space Applications Section internship is for three (3) months with an opportunity for extension up to a total of six (6) months, pending on the needs of the office and the availability of the intern.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time.

Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

1.Assist in the preparations for the planning meetings of the International Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (ICG) and its Providers' forum.
2.Draft background notes, papers and other documents in support of the ICG's working group on capacity building and information dissemination.
3.Assist in global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) scientific research and exploration.
4.Assist in the preparations of the workshops on GNSS applications and the International Space Weather Initiative of the Space Applications Section.
5.Support the preparation of cost plans, monitoring and preparation of expenditure status reports and updates, and supporting review of donor reports.
6.Prepare summaries, meeting minutes and other management related outputs.
7.Support development of the ICG information portal.
8.Perform other tasks as necessary.

Education

To qualify for an internship with the (COMPANY NAME) Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
*Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme in science (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme in science (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree in science (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation; (OFFICIAL PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY IN SUPPORT OF ONE OF THE ABOVE OPTIONS HAS TO BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION);

*University education courses in International relations; sociology; interpersonal communications and psychology adjustments; principals of organizational behaviour, are asset;

*Be computer literate in standard software applications; proficiency in preparing spreadsheets (special education courses are asset);

*Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the (COMPANY NAME) and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and

*Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Languages

English is the working languages of the (COMPANY NAME). Fluency in English, i.e. oral and written proficiency is required. Knowledge of other official (COMPANY NAME) languages is an advantage.
