The position is located in the UN Regional Information Centre for Western Europe in Brussels, with the Desk for Italy, the Holy See, San Marino and Malta. UNICs are the principal sources of information about the (COMPANY NAME) system in the countries where they are located, they are also responsible for promoting greater public understanding of and support for the aims and activities of the (COMPANY NAME) by disseminating information on the work of the Organization to people everywhere, especially in developing countries.
The internship is for six (6) months at maximum and UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35-40 hours) under the direct supervision of the Italian Desk Officer of UNRIC.
The Intern may be responsible for the following duties: * Media monitoring; drafting,editing, translating into Italian media advisories, press releases, backgrounders and other information material for dissemination and posting;
* Maintaining content on websites, official social media accounts and other official digital communication outlets and monitoring their usage through analytics and other statistical tools;
* Handling and updating the Desk's thematic mailing lists of recipients in the national civil society;
* Managing relationship with Italy-based volunteer translators within the framework of the distance internship program for linguistic mediators;
* Creating and editing infographics or social videos for posting on official digital communication outlets;
* Assisting in organizing events in Brussels and Italy; * Contributing ideas to projects for enhancing the reach of official digital communication outlets, identifying opportunities to reach a wider audience;
* Liaising with Italy-based ASVIS on Sustainable Development Goals-related issues;
* Supporting the Desk officer in securing placement of UN high-ranking officials'Op-Eds with national influential media outlets;
* Perform other related duties, as required.

To qualify for a UN internship, the following conditions must be met: 1. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: * Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); * Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or * Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) 2. Be computer literate in standard software applications; 3. Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the UN and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and 4. Have the ability to successfully interact within a multicultural, multilingual working context and be understanding and tolerant of differing opinions and views.
