The Manufacturing Engineering Team for Roll-to-Roll Equipment is responsible for leading and scaling up of manufacturing (calendaring, lamination and slitting) processes for our cutting-edge Tesla battery cell manufacturing line. The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems. This role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products. The intern supports day-to-day team operations, being involved in the design, development, commissioning and ramping-out our high-throughput equipment, while working in a cross-functional team to test, validate and roll-out process. The intern plays a key role on continuous machine improvement during all project phases and will work closely with Roll-to-Roll organizations across Germany and United States.

* Work with manufacturing, process, and equipment engineering teams to develop and set up design of experiments (DOE), as well as build and test Tesla equipment and products
* Organize and analyse data sets that outline the systemic improvement opportunities
* Identify, address, and solve process concerns with equipment performances, reliability, efficiency, yield through modification of existing equipment, and/or design of an improved equipment
* Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop processes, tooling and procedures
* Learn how to coordinate projects
* Manage projects involving multiple departments and/or outside contractors

Candidate Requirements:

* English level C1/C2, both written and spoken
* Preferably pursuing a degree in a relevant engineering field (Automotive, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Materials)
* First experience in the areas of moderation and training for the introduction of processes
* Good knowledge in the use of common MS Office applications
* 2D & 3D ACAD experience in creating/validating layouts, tooling drawings
* Ability to analyse problems and find solutions in a structured manner
* Strong team player
* Ability to keep an overview and proactively improve processes
* Aptitude to learn
* Detail oriented with strong record-keeping
* Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines with strong follow through
