PURPOSE OF THE INTERNSHIP
As an intern within the Internal Control & Risk team you help in ensuring the adequacy and effectiveness of the overall control environment. You will provide support with the set-up of the Internal Control Framework and subsequent the coordination of internal control & risk management activities.
YOUR ROLE
You will be reporting to the Internal Control Specialist. You will (together with your manager) interact with local and middle management in the business. Your main focus will be to formalize assigned business processes and help in identifying business risks in order to develop new/adjust internal control measures and help making improvements to business processes. It drives you to find ways on how to enhance internal control, reduce business risk and costs and at the same time enable international business growth.
You will gain insight into various areas of the business by learning about the processes, risks, and controls within those areas. You will be coached and trained on the job and will have the opportunity to walkthrough allocated processes end-to-end.
YOUR ACCOUNTABILITIES
* You will support the development of the Internal Control Framework;
* You will formalize business process descriptions and related risk and control matrix for the assigned processes;
* You will validate existing control measures and help set-up mitigating actions for the deficient controls, based on the internal control framework procedures;
* You will support in updating the quarterly reports regarding Internal Control Implementation;
* You will support on internal audits of the Internal Control Framework;
* You will report where applicable on the outcome of the audits.
YOUR INGREDIENTS
* Student (University or HBO level) - in the direction of finance & control;
* You have strong analytical skills;
* You are positive minded and have a hands-on approach;
* You are critical, accurate and structured;
* You have eye for detail;
* Affinity with SQL and Power BI is a plus;
* You are fluent in English both written and verbal, Dutch is a plus.
