About the organization
Discovery Direct-to-Consumer is the technology arm of Discovery Inc.
We work at the crossroads of technology, entertainment, and everyday utility, continuously leveraging technology to create immersive viewing and interactive experiences. We are building a global streaming video platform and a suite of applications to support all our global Discovery owned brands. These include DiscoveryGo, Food Network Plus, GolfTV, MotorTrend on Demand, Eurosport Player, Discovery plus, and many more. We build experiences ranging from traditional video streaming, to highly interactive and immersive applications. We build across connected TV, web, mobile and consoles and are fast, nimble and have fun building world-class products for our iconic brands.
About the team you'll join
Our platform ensures that our customers can enjoy the same world-class streaming experience across all our products, anywhere in the world. Within operational excellence we enable our teams to deliver new features at speed to our customers, while simultaneously being the gatekeepers protecting our customers from any code bugs or failing software. We focus heavily on architecture and best practices. Our goal is to make sure all teams within Direct-to-Consumer can develop world-class software products in an agile, secure, and scalable environment. We also provide them with the tools and workflows to operate and monitor their services. What's unique about our team is that we are central to every product DTC builds and the foundation of all our software products.
About the projects you'll work on
Right now, we're working hard on ensuring our platform is performant in preparation for an important app launch. We need to ensure our platform can handle millions of concurrent customers without affecting their experience. In parallel, we're developing and automating our Platform to become more self-service and support more diversified teams. We manage our infrastructure with code (IaC) using tools like CloudFormation and Terraform. Our daily jobs also involve Kubernetes, Istio, and Kafka.
What we're looking for
In addition to academics, we're looking for customer-focus, team spirit, an appetite for problem-solving and intellectual curiosity. We are after all a service organization, here to support other teams. It's also critical to have a desire to understand how software is built, shipped, run, and operated in a high-available distribution environment.
* Must be currently enrolled as a student (proof of enrollment will be required if selected for an internship)
* Must be looking for a permanent role within 12-24 months of completing the internship program
* Must have the legal right to work in Sweden.

You'll also have an extensive network for peers with whom you will have built great relationships! It's a small industry and the network you build and the impression you make during the program will be invaluable throughout your career.

What you need to know about the DTC Summer 2021 Program Application Process:
-Our summer 2021 program is 12 weeks long, commencing June 2nd -August 20th.
-Our internships are paid opportunities. Credit is not required; however, we will provide documentation if necessary.
-The application deadline is November 20th. After this date, we cannot guarantee your application will be reviewed for the position.
-We do not require a cover letter. Please demonstrate your passion for the position through your resume.
Interviewing will take place from October 26th, through November 30th. A Discovery Intern team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates
