About Our Training Programme
UNEP/FI's sustainable finance training services are part of our effort to realise the mission of UNEP/FI to "identify, promote, and realise the adoption of best environmental and sustainability practice at all levels of financial institution operations". The primary aim of these services is to raise awareness and to build capacity in sustainable finance amongst UNEP/FI Signatories and other financial institutions, especially in developing countries and emerging markets. Training happens in English, Spanish, French and Chinese.
Environmental and Social Risk Analysis (ESRA) Training Programme
The ESRA Training Programme seeks to train financial analysts on how to identify, analyse and manage environmental and social risks associated with their clients' projects in order to integrate E&S risk management in their day to day lending and investment processes and decision-making.
Corporate Eco-Efficiency in Financial Institutions (CEFI) Online Course
The CEFI Online Course seeks to train representatives of the financial sector on how to make efficient use of the resources involved in the daily internal operations of financial institutions (FIs) and thus reduce their environmental footprint.
Online Course on "Climate Change & the TCFD: Risks & Opportunities for the Banking Industry"
The climate change and the TCFD online course aims at supporting banking organizations as lenders and financial regulators carry out TCFD-responsive assessments & disclosures, and the pilot course was successfully delivered in November 2018.
Green Bonds Training Programme
UNEP/FI along with various partners deliver Green Bonds Training Workshops to promote the development of a greener and more inclusive growth in the countries where they take place.
Sustainable Finance Training Programme
UNEP/FI offers Sustainable Finance Training Workshops. The topics include Environmental and Social Risk Analysis (ESRA), Green Products and Services Financing, and Corporate Eco-efficiency, among others.
The internship is for six (6) months, UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, interns may be requested to undertake the internship remotely in view of constraints regarding visa issuance, international travel and access to UN premises. The intern must be willing and prepared to undertake the internship remotely for a part or the entirety of the internship. The work hours during the internship shall be determined based on individual discussion between the intern and the supervisor(s) taking into consideration the minimum requirements of the Organization and the time difference between the hosting office and the location of the intern.
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period.
Under the supervision of the UNEP/FI's Programme Manager, the tasks included are:
-assisting UNEP/FI in contacting financial institutions and partner organizations from different regions with the aim of securing participants for courses;
-assisting UNEP/FI in responding to day-to-day enquiries and expressions of interest about the Programmes / courses;
-assisting with managing registrations including the payment of course fees;
-liaising with course participants, tutors and the webmaster on an on-going basis throughout the courses;
-assisting with supporting the management of the courses' online platform;
-supporting the Training Department in relation to reporting course/Programme results;
-undertake research on sustainability training;
-assisting with the management /maintenance databases for the training department.

a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
c. Have graduated with a university degree.
Studies in business administration, marketing, communications, or related field preferred.
Be computer literate in standard software applications.
Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the (COMPANY NAME) and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
