Job Description:

This internship is located in the Innovative Policies Development Section (IPDS), Economic Commission for Europe based in Geneva.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Innovative Policies Development Section, the intern will:

*Assist IPDS staff with the preparation of the manuscript of the Subregional Innovation Policy Outlook publication. This task will provide the intern with knowledge and understanding of implementing a new area of work to respond to the needs of member States, and develop understanding of the relevant aspects of Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

*Assist IPDS staff with literature review and preparatory research in support of an Innovation for Sustainable Development Review of an ECE member State. This task will provide the intern with an understanding of the secretariat work in undertaking national-level capacity building work and technical cooperation.

*Assist with general tasks of the Innovative Policies Development Section (IPDS), as required by the Chief of Section. This will allow the intern to become familiar with the work of the IPDS, its stakeholders and other organizations in the same area. This task will provide the intern with an understanding of the secretariat work in preparing and servicing meetings of intergovernmental bodies and the opportunity to engage with UNECE partners and stakeholders in innovation policy.

Education

To qualify for an internship with the (COMPANY NAME) Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

(a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or
(c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation;

Be computer literate in standard software applications;

Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the (COMPANY NAME) and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and

Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required. Russian is desirable.
