The mandate of the (COMPANY NAME) Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is to promote sustainable and inclusive development and regional connectivity in the Asian and Pacific region. ESCAP's role as a regional development arm of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat is to support its membership with policy-oriented research and analysis, normative support and technical assistance and capacity building, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region.
The internship in the Office of Executive Secretary (OES) is for a period of three to four months depending on the needs of the Office.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the OES.
Daily responsibilities will vary and depend on the individual's background. Daily duties may include:
1.Research, analyze and present information gathered from diverse sources
2.Assistance in preparing background documents, etc.
3.Assistance in summarizing meetings
4.Assistance in preparing and updating website related material
5.Other related duties as assigned
The (COMPANY NAME) Core Competencies include:

To qualify for an internship with the (COMPANY NAME) Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
*Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation;
*Be computer literate in standard software applications;
*Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the (COMPANY NAME) and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
*Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
English and French are the working languages of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, applicants may be requested to undertake the internship remotely in view of constraints regarding visa issuance, international travel and access to UN premises. Applicants must be willing and prepared to undertake the internship remotely for a part or the entirety of the internship.
