Do you want to work in children's publishing? Are you highly organised and a quick thinker with an eye for detail, who would thrive in a fast-paced environment? Do you enjoy creating and pitching new ideas? Then don't miss this exciting opportunity to join the editorial team at DK, a leading global publisher.

At DK Children's, we publish award-winning illustrated books for kids of all ages, covering everything from first words and numbers, to science, history, and the natural world. Thoroughly researched and expertly designed non-fiction is our home turf, but we apply our unique approach to a diverse range of genres, including craft and activities, cookery, sticker books, and fiction with a factual element. In everything we do, the goal is the same: to produce beautiful, enriching books that will delight, inspire and inform young readers around the world.

At the heart of it all is our close-knit editorial team, which oversees the creative process from beginning to end, liaising with prominent authors and expert consultants to ensure every book meets our exacting standards - and is completed on-time and within budget.

Now, we are looking for an enthusiastic Editor with experience of working on Children's books to join the DK Children's division.

Key responsibilities:

* Managing several projects across different extents and formats and at different stages of the editorial process from idea to print

* Scheduling, costing, contract preparation, research, briefing, fact-checking, and proofreading

* Working with the Managing Editors, Acquisitions Editors, Publisher and Publishing Director to prepare pitches for new ideas and create presentations for new books

* Managing freelancers, packagers and other third parties

* Ensuring layouts and copy are of the highest standard and fulfil the brief set out by the business

* Using internal and external systems to input key project information, gather commercial data, and analyse competition

* Finding and commissioning authors, illustrators, influencers and consultants to work on the Children's list

* Using internal asset management systems as required

We are looking for an individual who is:

* A confident and accomplished editor with a commercial outlook

* Organised, agile and efficient, with a constant can-do attitude

* Numerate and able to manage budgets and schedules with ease

* Engaged with data and analytics

* Creative, detail-focused, methodical, and calm under pressure

* Keen to understand workflows and processes - improving them as necessary

* Inquisitive, curious, and always striving to improve - happy to work across a wide range of topics, no matter how complex

* Able to think logically, visually, innovatively - and like a reader

* A clear and confident communicator in writing, on the phone/video calls, and in person

* Keen to understand and help to implement the strategy for the Children's division and the wider business

* A true team player who wants to get involved and help others

Please apply by submitting your CV and a brief cover letter by Friday, 4th February

Please also include:

* A short pitch for an original non-fiction book concept
