Lead Operator

Continental Shifts Pattern (multiple vacancies)

Continental shift pattern: these are 12-hour shifts, days and nights starting 6:00-18:00 or 18:00-06:00; the pattern means you have 2 consecutive weekends working followed by 2 consecutive weekends off.

Contract: this is a permanent contract working 12 months of the year on a 7-day rotation

Salary (inclusive of shift premium): £ xx,xxx.x0

Bonus: 4.025% (depending on factory performance and individual absence modifier)

Position Summary

We have exciting opportunities in our Halifax site as a Lead Operator, you will be responsible for the performance and results of the production lines and the control of material, all in accordance with health and safety, quality, and food hygiene standards.

Nestlé Halifax Factory in West Yorkshire is the home of the iconic confectionary brand Quality Street amongst several other well-known brands such as Quality Street and After Eight. These are produced through controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines.

A day in the life of a Lead Operator

You will be working with Shift Managers, Technicians and Maintenance Planners to run the production environment efficiently. In line with Nestlé's continuous drive for excellence, the role will consist of both production and transactional duties.

You will review Data and Facts and use your Analytical skills to identify opportunities to make improvements to line performance and material variance.

You will be able to help lead and drive continuous improvement using TPM methodology and Problem Solving to assist Nestle drive for continued excellence.

You will have gained experience in leading people, able to Prioritise, be an excellent Team player and effective Communicator.

What will make you successful?

The ideal candidate for the role will be

- Resilient and Resourceful and have a passion for continuous improvement and problem solving.

- Proven Track Record working within a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment would be ideal, although other backgrounds will be considered.

- preferably qualified with either an Apprenticeship, HNC level in business or similar equivalent (NVQ etc), although not a necessity.

What you need to know

This role is based on the Continental Shift pattern alternating 12h shifts 6am - 6pm & 6pm - 6am

Applicants that are shortlisted for consideration will be required to complete a Maths and English competency test, further shortlisted applicants will then be invited for an interview; references will be sought from relevant AM's regarding your skills and competencies. The successful candidates will complete a defined training programme.

In accordance with Home Office guidance successful candidates will be required to evidence their right to work in the UK before commencement of employment. We have assessed this role and do not consider that we would be able to sponsor a successful candidate under the Skilled Worker route as the role does not meet the relevant Home Office criteria; the successful candidate therefore must be able to demonstrate their own right to work during the recruitment process without Nestlé sponsorship
