This position is located in the Office of the Director in the UN Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health (DHMOSH), Office of Support Operations (OSO), Department of Operational Support (DOS).
The Department of Operational Support (DOS) was established to provide end-to-end operational support, advisory services and other solutions to operating entities across the Secretariat, including departments, offices away from headquarters, peace operations, and regional commissions.
The Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health (DHMOSH) provides services to Secretariat entities as well as to New York-based Agencies, Funds, and Programmes (AFP). The services include medical entitlement administration, occupational safety and health, medical workforce management, clinical governance, patient safety and public health. In addition, the Secretariat's counselling services are located within DHMOSH.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time (five days per week), for a minimum duration of two (2) months and can be extended up to six (6) months.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours).
Under the overall supervision of the Medical Director, the incumbent may have responsibilities which include, but are not limited to:
1.Scheduling meetings and video teleconferences as needed;
2.Maintain and update relevant DHMOSH contact lists;
3.Provide assistance in preparing, reviewing, and editing official documents and correspondences related to the work of DHMOSH; whilst ensuring accuracy and consistency;
4.Assist with maintaining records and data sets;
5.Attend meetings and draft summaries from notes taken;
6.Conduct research, including document, medical, and internet searches related to the work of DHMOSH;
7.Assist in preparing and analyzing health-related data from online surveys, and statistical and epidemiological review of DHMOSH data set's;

We are looking for applicants who will demonstrate their intention to study further or work in a field relevant to the work of DHMOSH.
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent or higher);
b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (Bachelor's level or equivalent); or
c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation;
I. Be computer literate in standard software applications;
II. Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the (COMPANY NAME) and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
III. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

English and French are the working languages of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of French is desirable.
