Depending on the needs of the unit and upon satisfactory performance of the intern, there is a possibility for extension for another three months. The total duration of the entire internship period is six months at maximum. Under no circumstances will there be extension beyond six months. The internship is UNPAID and full time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the unit to which they are assigned.
The intern will assist the Human Security Unit in advancing its strategic objectives and workplan through strengthening communications and outreach activities, including the following:
Provide support in developing a public information workplan in line with the overall strategic objectives of the Unit and with the aim to raise visibility of human security and the work of the (COMPANY NAME) Trust Fund for Human Security (UNTFHS)
(i)Develop a workplan for all Unit communications platforms and mediums, and to target key audiences including member States of the (COMPANY NAME), the (COMPANY NAME) system entities, and the general public
(ii)Draft content for and update the Unit website
(iii)Draft social media posts, including twitter and Facebook, with the aim to expand the HSU's presence
(iv)Produce video content for a variety of uses from social media to events (applicants should have experience producing video content and be familiar with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects, or similar software)
(v)Design and layout Unit informational materials, including programme summaries and newsletters
(vi)Regularly monitor communication platforms of key constituencies and compile news headlines from member States to inform the Unit's communication and outreach work
Assist staff in the organization and implementation of outreach events
(i)Maintain an up-to-date list of contact addresses and publication distribution lists
(ii)Support in logistics and protocol for events
(iii)Assist in drafting concept notes, agendas, outreach materials and meeting summaries
(iv)Support in the preparation of presentations
Perform other work-related duties as required, including printing and preparation of documents, attending and summarizing conferences and meetings, and undertaking research.

To qualify for an internship with the (COMPANY NAME) Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or
c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year of graduation.

English and French are the working languages of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official
UN language is desirable.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the (COMPANY NAME). Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. For internships in the United States of America, interns who are not United States citizens, permanent residents or not currently in the United States on a nonimmigrant visa status will be required to obtain a G-4 visa. If already in the United States of America on another non-immigrant visa status other than G-4, interns will be responsible for ensuring that they have a valid visa, and if required, employment authorization, allowing them to undertake the internship.
