Org. Setting and Reporting

The Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (OHRLLS) internship is for two months with an opportunity for extension, depending on the needs of the department. The internship is UNPAID and full-time.

Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

- Assistance with drafting and designing communications products, writing, editing, researching, translating.
- Assisting with maintenance of the website and social media accounts.
- Researching media partnerships and campaigns.
- Assisting with conference communications.
- Photography, Archiving and monitoring media coverage

The intern is expected to:
* Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the (COMPANY NAME) and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
* Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Education

To qualify for an internship with the (COMPANY NAME) Internship Programme, the following condition must be met:
* Applicants to the programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent);
* Applicants who have graduated (as defined in (a) or (b) above), if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
* Educational background in communications, graphic design, journalism, development studies or international relations is desirable.
* Applicants must be computer literate in standard software applications.

Work Experience

No working experience is required to apply for the (COMPANY NAME) Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the (COMPANY NAME) during your internship.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat.
