Meta is seeking Engineering Interns to join our Display & Optics teams in Redmond, WA. This team is part of the RL (Reality Lab) within Meta, working to advance the state of the art in augmented reality display. As an Engineering Intern in the Optical Metrology team, you will help us optimize the optical metrology testers and the image processing routines to understand the performance of augmented reality displays. The duration of this internship is 12 weeks with Summer.
Optical Engineering Intern, Optical Metrology (PhD) Responsibilities
Develop novel Matlab or Python code to improve feature detection on low contrast images, improve robustness of algorithm
Develop Matlab or Python code to detect image artifacts
Optimize the existing code base to reduce the data analysis time
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PHD degree in Optics, Physics, EE
Strong experience in Python or Matlab
Some experience with image processing
Academic preparation and/or work experience in digital image processing techniques as applicable to optical metrology (examples include: stitching, edge detection, colo analysis, thresholding, segmentation, morphology, feature extraction, compression, filtering, pattern recognition, bar code reading etc).
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Ability to communicate (oral and written) complex concepts in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.
Experience in an environment with cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
Experience driving solutions for problems.
Ability to pay high attention to detail
