This job opening announcement is for the internship with the Humanitarian Financing Strategy and Analysis (HFSA) Section, Humanitarian Financing and Resource Mobilization Division (HFRMD), the (COMPANY NAME) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in New York. OCHA is the part of the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies. OCHA also ensures there is a framework within which each actor can contribute to the overall response efforts. OCHA's mission is to mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors in order to alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies; advocate the rights of people in need; promote preparedness and prevention and facilitate sustainable solutions.
The internship is UNPAID and full time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the general guidance of a primary supervisor in HFSA/HFRMD/
The internship is being offered for a minimum period of three (3) months, with a possibility of extension up to a maximum period of six (6) months, beginning at a mutually agreed time.
Due to COVID-19 and travel restrictions the internship may be conducted remotely.
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
* Research financial and economic issue impacting to humanitarian needs
* Supporting data gathering and compiling
* Assistance in drafting and preparing analytical documents
* Attending and summarizing conference calls and meetings
* Document and internet research, including providing analytical summaries
* Any other work as required

To qualify for an internship with the (COMPANY NAME) Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
* Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); (c) or have completed an academic degree, preferably in the area of economics, international relations, social sciences, or a related field;
* Be computer literate in standard software applications;
* Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the (COMPANY NAME) and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
* Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
