Based in New York, United States of America, within the Administrative Section, under the overall guidance of the Office Director, the intern will work under the direct supervision of the Administrative Officer.
This assignment shall be offered for an initial period of three (3) months, renewable for a combined period of six (6) months, upon further approval by the supervisor, with an initial commencement date ranging/starting from June 2021 to February 2022.

The intern shall support OHCHR in fulfilling its mission: to work for the protection of all human rights for all people; to help empower people to realize their rights; and to assist those responsible for upholding such rights in ensuring that they are implemented.
Daily responsibilities of the Management Information and Systems Technology intern will depend on the individual's background and duties may include but are not limited to supporting the OHCHR New York Front Office and other substantive sections in designing and developing SharePoint based tools and applications, facilitating internal team management, document and topics collaboration, internal and external communication, information dissemination and, in particular, the intern may: Act as New York Office point of contact for SharePoint, Power Apps, and Office 365 support issues; Help develop new tools (of relatively low complexity) for the NYO adapted to its specific needs, using Power Apps and canvas driven applications, as well as enhancing existing applications; Support the use of SharePoint within NYO by further developing and adapting team sites and office communication sites linking Excel and SharePoint lists, Power Apps, Power Automate flows, Power BI business analytics functions and dashboards for management purposes; Support the use of Office 365 applications and collaborative tools by integrating them within the SharePoint and OneDrive environments; Assist in linking different SharePoint platforms (UNHQ and OHCHR Geneva based) to organize and disseminate information within and between teams and offices, providing advice and support to site owners; and Draft guidance and provide assistance in remote training of NYO staff in using SharePoint, and best practices for data management and online collaboration.
Other activities may include supporting Staff registration/onboarding/exit procedures; building a compendium of administrative procedures; helping create a flexible working arrangements tool, daily attendance, staff directory with topics, emergency contact chain, travel forecasting and approvals, small equipment borrowing and inventory, mandatory training tracking, budget and spending dashboard for managers and NYO activities collaborative calendar. Perform other related duties requested by the supervisor, as appropriate.

To qualify for the (COMPANY NAME) Secretariat internship programme, applicants must, at the time of submission, be a graduate or enrolled in a graduate school programme (i.e. Master's degree or equivalent degree, or higher) or, be a graduate or enrolled in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme (i.e. Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree) preferably in the area of computer science, management information systems, business technology, mathematics, statistics or a related field, OR have graduated with a university degree as defined above AND, if selected, must commence the internship on the date specified in the Acceptance letter.
