To help with our mission, Portal Audio Team is seeking an Applied Scientist Intern to help extend and improve our current acoustic beamformer algorithms and software around it to scale to new products. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of fundamental Digital Signal Processing algorithms, and strong communication and interpersonal skills. This internship position will offer the candidate strong practical experience of utilizing their theoretical knowledge for practical applications.
Our internships are twelve (12) to sixteen (16) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
Applied Research Scientist Intern, Portal Audio Responsibilities
Help improve and extend Portal's Beamformer algorithms
Scale the beamformer designer by implementing a user-friendly interface for faster analysis, design, and implementation of the beamforming design
Work with Quality Engineering team to gather the appropriate data to validate the beamformer
Help integrate, tune, and test the beamform design on new and/or existing Portal products
Present findings to other teams across (COMPANY NAME) Reality Labs
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering field
Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Solid understanding of Digital Signal Processing algorithms and mathematics including Fourier transform, linear filtering techniques, complex number analysis, linear algebra
Experience in Matlab and Python
Experience in signal processing for audio and/or speech signals
Familiarity with typical audio processing algorithms such as Acoustic Echo Cancellation, Beamforming, Noise Reduction, Automatic Gain Control, Compressors/Limiters, etc
Understanding of numerical optimization techniques, estimation theory, statistical signal processing, adaptive filters
Familiarity with acoustic effects
Intent to return to full-time degree program after completion of the internship
