Know the Android Team
We are Androiders! We love to work with every Android project, starting from scratch or getting into a million-users project; running on phones, tablets, watches, TVs, cars, or even in the shower (why not?). Our team comes from different backgrounds, Java, Kotlin-first, web, cross-platform technologies, and that's the beauty of it: you can get a really wide perspective about any Android related topic. We gather to talk and study new technologies and how/where we can apply them on our projects, always having a cup of coffee, tea, or water (stay hydrated!). There is no one-stack-to-rule-them-all, in the same year you might work with different architectures and technologies. If we could summarize our goal, it would be projects. At the end of the day, the Android team strives to build pixel perfect, user-centered, performant, clean coded apps, one line of code at a time.
Role Expectations
People Management Responsibilities:
* Meet regularly 1:1 with team members (ideally once a week).
* Align the team with the company's needs and vision.
* Manage people's performance and collect information for the performance review cycles.
* Support people's development by creating a career plan with them, providing guidance on how to fill their skill gaps, helping them to find growth opportunities, and constantly following up their evolution.
* Provide constant feedback to ensure their continuous learning.
* Coach team members, both regarding technical and soft skills.
* Create a safe environment for team members to feel heard and comfortable sharing their thoughts, challenge ideas, and be themselves, acting as a genuinely inclusive leader.
* Represent (COMPANY NAME)'s Culture through the Leadership Principles, being an ambassador of AT's cultural values within the team, guiding members when they don't act based on them.
* Collaborate with the Head of Department, ensuring the team's capabilities match the business needs.
* Work with the Head of Department in the hiring process, providing inputs and information to drive and improve our recruitment process.
* Be responsible for technical and executive interviews, engaging and training the team to interview people, ensuring we have enough availability and skills to run the process at the needed velocity, avoiding bottlenecks that may slow it down.
* Work with other managers to identify, assess, and implement emerging technology trends and best practices.
General Responsibilities:
* Be up to date on the latest technologies and trends for Android framework, using AndroidX, Architecture Components, and our other Jetpack friends.
* Provide technical guidance and support to the team members, jumping on technical discussions helping remove blockers and gaps in the team's knowledge.
* Regularly meet with internal project stakeholders to evaluate and improve the team's value delivery.
* Identify and fulfill knowledge gaps within the project teams ensuring they're adequately staffed.

* If you like to be hands-on and your activities as a manager let you spare some time, you can align with the Head of Engineering and jump in on a project. That is not a requirement, but we understand how important that is for some people.

REMOTE WORK: This position is remote friendly. If you miss to be in the office, we have a great one in Florianópolis and you can also choose to work from there after the pandemic. Just a reminder: remote employees also need to live in Brazil (we hire international professionals only for some specific openings)
