Co-Director (Strategy)

Job Description:

1. Leadership
-Provide guidance to 8 staff and 4 interns (10 FTE), ensuring motivation and alignment to both organisational strategy and values, in cooperation with co-director (programmes);
-Determine human resource requirements, and lead recruitment processes, together with co-Director (programmes);
-Represent UNOY towards external stakeholders and promote -meaningful youth participation wherever possible; 
-Extend UNOY's network of partners in the youth, peace and security and other relevant fields;
-Liaise with and ensure consultations of International Steering Group and Board in decision-making;

2. Financial oversight and organisational development
-Lead financial strategy and takes responsibility for financial decisions; 
-Supervise long-term financial planning;
-Monitor spending at the organisational level, oversee audit and lead reporting to the Board;
-Support co-director (programmes) in programme budget development and monitoring;

3. Strategic oversight & planning, monitoring, evaluation and learning (PMEL)
-Guards the respect of the Strategic Plan throughout all UNOY activities, programmes and processes, including in supporting the co-director (programmes) in ensuring a strategic long-term approach to UNOY programmes and advocacy activities;
-Lead reviewing and drafting of strategic plan and annual plans;
-Steer the evaluation of UNOY’s organisational impact and a culture of learning;
-Ensure implementation and quality of organisational PMEL processes and organisational reporting;

4. Fundraising
-Identify funding opportunities, in cooperation with the Partnership Coordinator;
-Decide which funding opportunities to pursue, in cooperation with the co-director (programmes);
-Oversee the implementation of UNOY's fundraising roadmap;

5. Risk Management and organisational development:
-Oversee organisational and network development processes;
-Lead financial development of UNOY and growth and change management.

Candidate Requirements:

You are great for the job if you have:
-A relevant university degree at Master's level (peace and conflict studies, international relations, development or economic studies, or other relevant fields;
-3 years experience (paid or unpaid) working within the fields of peacebuilding, human rights/justice and/or youth - preferably within civil society;
-Leadership or organisational management experience;
-Background in organisational finances, or other relevant -financial knowledge/experience;
-Demonstrated experience in successful fundraising and a partnership-building attitude;
-Outstanding analytical and strategic thinking & planning skills;
-Excellent written and spoken English language skills;
-An inclusive approach to leadership and intercultural collaboration.

You are perfect if you also have:
-Experience in remote collaboration with local (youth) civil society organisations in the peace and security or related fields;
-A good understanding of peacebuilding and conflict transformation theory, and/or youth participation in policy making;
-General knowledge of organisational development in the field of peacebuilding and/or youth-led organisations;
-PMEL experience at an organisational level;
-Dutch language skills are an asset. Additional language skills are desirable (Arabic, French, Spanish preferred);
-Coaching and/or facilitation skills.
