Systems Security Officer

Would you like to be part of an exciting team delivering a number of secure accredited gateway systems and services into the MoD that embrace new technology and innovation?  We currently have a vacancy for a Systems Security Officer at our site in Abbey Wood, Bristol.

As a Systems Security Officer, you will be working closely with System Administrators and other Support Staff to ensure secure operation and maintaining the security of the operational systems.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work as part of a large team with great exposure to various stakeholders and other teams within (COMPANY NAME), including liaising with MoD staff and security personnel.

Your main responsibilities as a Systems Security Officer will involve:

Monitoring Security Operating practices, maintaining local security instructions and seeking continuous improvement

Liaising with security personnel within BAE and the MoD over 3rd line support issues

Authorising new privileged accounts, ensuring all checks are in place

Responding to security incidents, including initial investigation, reporting to external agencies such as MODCERT and the Joint Cyber Unit, and support to resolution

Performing regular security audits

Use of Protective Monitoring tools (based around ArcSight), to monitor and investigate potential system attacks

Reporting any system security breaches or vulnerabilities which have been detected and support any forensic analysis

Supporting the production of regular security reports and assist with the presentation to Security Working Group

Your skills and qualifications:

Experience of supporting Defence/Secure IT Systems
Ideally experienced working within a Systems Security Officer/IT Security role
Ideally have experience of supporting or carrying out systems security investigations
Experience of Windows, Linux, ArcSight is desirable
Ideally have an understanding of Networking / IP
