As a Finance Manager, you will be responsible for all Naval Ships financial reporting, accounting and financial planning. You will lead the end to end IBP (Integrated Business Plan) process, co-ordinating the preparation and issue of the various phases of the IBP leading to the issue of the annual phased budget.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to gain experience on multiple projects and build a stakeholder network to progress within the wider business.
Your main responsibilities as a Finance Manager will involve:
Facilitating and coordinating the preparation of the various phases of the Integrated Business Plan.
Ensuring reviews and appropriate challenges are made whilst delivering a timely and accurate plan
Managing the delivery of the monthly management reports, accurately and on time, including monthly performance reviews of the programmes ensuring effective challenge to improve the quality and accuracy of actual and forecast financial data
Managing the preparation of the various statutory accounts and tax packs ensuring their accuracy and timely completion
Managing the integrity of the nominal ledger ensuring all ledger accounts are reconciled and approved monthly. To include the monthly Balance Sheet reviews
Ensuring compliance with the financial policies manual and the financial control framework, delivery of all financial control framework requirements including continuous improvements covering financial controls
Managing the preparation of accurate and robust cash forecasts covering both short and long term, implementing process changes which support the delivery of cash forecasting improvements across the business
Your skills and qualifications:
ACA/CIMA/ACCA Qualified Accountant or relevant equivalent
Financial/Technical accounting understanding and experience
Good knowledge of statutory, financial reporting and business planning.
Experience/exposure to financial management of long term contracts
Track record of using complex ERP and Financial systems
Previous Line management experience is essential
Knowledge of contracting accounting would be an advantage
An understanding of specific contract requirements and commercial implications would be beneficial
