Amala is an urban day spa within Hyatt Regency Birmingham in the heart of the city. Offering respite from the daily hustle and bustle of city life, the spa comprises six state-of-the-art therapy rooms including a therapy suite enabling two people to enjoy their spa experience together. Amala is home to a Turkish Hamman and a private Hammam treatment room with a marble table where traditionally inspired therapies are applied in a warm steam environment. amala's treatments build upon the cornerstones to well-being, sound nutrition, regular exercise, peace of mind and care of the face and body.
Working within Amala Spa & Club you will be the main point of contact to welcome guests and members on arrival. Following our opening and closing operating procedures, you will offer a warm and helpful experience for our guests. You will ensure you monitor the CCTV cameras for poolside, and respond quickly to all emergency situations in the water or on surrounding areas. Some of your duties may include signing guests into the area, taking payment, answering calls and dealing with queries, supervising the activities of swimmers by enforcing rules and regulations, warning swimmers of improper activities or hazards, cleaning the pool in order to ensure water quality is good and conducting tests, as required, to determine water quality. You will ensure you keep your working area clean and tidy at all times, replenishing towels and checking locker rooms regularly.
Working on a casual basis, the ideal candidate will be flexible to work weekdays and weekends
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six month related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Good interpersonal skills;
Able to work independently and under pressure;
Observant to see risks and to read scenarios poolside, for guest safety;
Previous experience of working as a lifeguard in a similar role is a must, as is a relevant life-saving certification
