Learning & Development Advisor

Would you like to join one of our newest teams within the largest function within our business? We currently have a vacancy for a Learning & Development Advisor at our site in Barrow.

Our Academy for Skills and Knowledge is founded on pride in our heritage and symbolises our investment in developing current generations of Submarines people, whilst also laying foundations for the future by changing the way we develop our workforce.

As a Learning & Development Advisor, you will be overseeing and governing all L&D activity for Submarines (outside Early Careers) - from Technical / bespoke training for key areas of the business, through personal development and leadership development, SHE, quality, business conduct training, other mandated training, and covering further and higher education as well

This role will provide you with cutting edge technologies and work within our new SASK facility. As part of our Submarines Academy objectives, we are excited to be developing mutually beneficial relationships with external organisations across; industry, academia, professional bodies, enterprise partners.

Your main responsibilities as a Learning & Development Advisor will involve:

Delivery of specific and targeted L&D projects - based on incoming demand from the business

Delivery of key elements of the Submarines Academy objectives - with specific work packages as projects

Adherence to the policies and processes aligned to L&D governance both at a local level and across the broader corporate learning structure

Ability to analyse and interpret complex data and make recommendations

We also work regularly with senior leaders not only around their personal development but also to shape the strategic learning requirements aligned to business goals

You will be partnering with Business & HR representatives, supporting the delivery of skills strategies to the Dreadnought programme and wider business.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Experience of working across all parts of learning cycle - TNA, Develop / Design, Deliver, Evaluate / Assure

L&D/ HR Consultancy skills, including the ability to analyse business issues and design and implement appropriate solutions for stakeholder's at all different levels

Experience in Learning and Development or HR

You will be CIPD qualified or working towards this

Desirable:

Previous experience working in complex/diverse environments

Previous experience of supporting a workforce of 1000's as opposed to 100's

Be able to demonstrate basic project management processes and application

Proven record in a Business partner or customer facing L&D role

Ability to coach & facilitate managers to improve individual & team performance

Good team player who is able to work in a collaborative and integrated way

Ability to quickly provide the right L&D solution to emergent needs or requirements

Ability to manage L&D activity on project basis, across the full Learning cycle

Ability to work autonomously - be able to problem solve and make decisions while ensuring all stakeholders are informed and involved throughout

Ability to deliver a quality service - with attention to detail a necessity

Able to work within our high standards of safety, ethics and inclusive behaviours

A passion for CPD & lifelong learning

Maritime - Submarines

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.

Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.
