What does the team do?
Our Retrieval Robotics teams are at the cutting-edge of our technology engineering business. From the design and manufacture of the most state-of-the-art products in the business, to their delivery into our multi-million pound Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs) across the globe, our bespoke electrical and mechanical development projects are pushing the boundaries of innovation and automation.
The Mechatronics Team is responsible for Electrical and Electronic design; Electric Motors; Control Systems and software to enable testing and integration. Our talented engineers have a variety of different specialisms, but all of whom enjoy the balance of focusing on their area of expertise, whilst contributing to the wider initiatives and ambitions of the department.
What would I be doing?
We are currently looking for an experienced electronic designer to join the Mechatronics Team. Day-to-day. you would be working on PCB and electrical designs, with a strong emphasis on PWM and methods of driving BLDC motors. In addition to your specialism in electronic design, it would be advantageous to also have experience or appreciation of the other areas the team covers.
We also work closely with other teams (Mechanical, Testing and Verification, Manufacture, Software, Product and others) so you would also have the opportunity to influence the overall product, and enjoy a broad range of collaborative activities.
What we are looking for:
* Strong experience in designing, testing and debugging electronic components and mechanical systems.
* A confident ability to handle component selection.
* Experience of contributing to manufacturing plans in cooperation with suppliers.
* Fluency with PCB design tools like Altium Designer.
This would make you stand out from the crowd:
* Experience with control and control algorithms.
* The ability to write safe, efficient and readable code in C.
* Knowledge of and proficiency with embedded Linux and Device Tree.
* The ability to test mechatronics systems.
* Experience with ARM microcontrollers preferably STM32.
* Proficiency in software development with Git.
