Job Description Summary:Assists with the development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems. Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system. Assists with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met. Supports software project management and software supplier management functions. Selects, tailors and deploys processes and tools; establishes metrics. Performs software research and trade studies. Troubleshoots software issues. Works under general supervision.

In the UK, our Defence and Security customers rely on us to deliver a Airborne and Ground-based capabilities in support of with our fixed wing aircraft; including our P-8 Poseidon Maritime and Multi-Mission ISR Aircraft, E-7 Airborne Early Warning and Control Aircraft, C-17 Globemaster Military Transporter, AH-64 Apache Combat Helicopter and CH-47 Chinook Multi-Mission Helicopter.

Beyond our Air platforms, we research, develop, deliver and support capabilities across growing adjacencies in the UK including Autonomous Systems, C4ISR, Training and Simulation, Cyber and Intelligent Systems, at (COMPANY NAME) locations and Customer sites across the UK.

As a consequence of our growing business in the UK we have a number of exciting opportunities for Systems and Software Engineering careers within our Mission Systems Capability, responsible for engineering our Sub-Systems, Software Solutions and Advanced Technologies.

About the role:

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work in a growing agile and diverse engineering capability satisfying a variety of business unit requirements across our portfolio of programmes and platforms, initially in close collaboration with colleagues in (COMPANY NAME) Defence Australia and the US in support of preparation and introduction into service of our E-7 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) Aircraft.

Responsibilities will include:

* Creating high quality software through application of an Agile-based approach to design and development, requirements analysis and specification, functional analysis, integration and testing with a continuous delivery mindset
* Conducting engineering activities in accordance with project plans, and established processes, practices and standards, while continually seeking out opportunities for process improvement
* Engaging effectively with other team members, leaders and customer/subcontractor technical representatives when required, contributing to a positive and strong team culture

To be successful you will have:

* Be a mission orientated, passionate, collaborative and capable software engineer, familiar with modern software development environments and processes
* Experience developing software in one or more of C++, Java or Python
* Experience in complex, real-time, multi-threaded, distributed systems
* Familiarity with source code control and document configuration management systems
* Have a "drive to action" approach with the ability to be resilient and flexible in a fast-paced environment

Experience with some or all of the following is desirable:

* Systems Engineering methodologies; including Model Based
* Software and Systems Test methodologies
* Skills or domain knowledge in Command and Control Systems, Sensor Integration, Communications, Messaging Protocols and Mission Systems
* Skills or domain knowledge specific to Airborne Early Warning and Control and /or Air Defence Systems
* Proven past experience in software development for commercial and/or Defence software applications

UK MOD Security Clearance (or willingness to obtain) is essential, higher levels of Security Clearance may be desirable.
