About the Role
Working in part of our Defence Systems Technology (DST) business, we're looking for a Project Manager to join us at Devonport, Plymouth. Babcock International owns and operates complex marine engineering infrastructure at Devonport, delivering through-life engineering services, technology, equipment consultancy and training to global defence and civil customers.
You will be working within the Mission Systems Complex Assets team, a growing business stream within DST. With growth across programmes of work including Air Defence & Missiles, Gunnery, Marine Systems and a new Assembly Integration & Test programme we have a range of exciting new projects and need to invest in updating and upgrading our team's facilities and infrastructure to support delivery of these programmes.
As Project Manager - Facilities, you will play the leading role in helping us to deliver the Facilities programme requirements for Complex Assets at our Devonport site. You will lead and ensure all aspects of project management are established and governed professionally, ensure accurate cost forecasting, invoicing and maintenance of project contract reviews, ensure delegated project(s) meet their contractual requirements for performance, schedule and cost and lead project(s) compliance.
What do I need to do the role?
You will have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to interact successfully at a senior level with Organisational and Functional stakeholders and customers and be able to innovate, adapt and deliver success.
You will also have:
* Previous experience of project management, delivering facilities and infrastructure projects
* Experience working in a defence environment (advantageous but not essential)
* Be proficient with MS Office, including OUTLOOK, WORD, EXCEL and PROJECT (desirable)
* Have first-hand experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team, with a well-honed ability to collaborate and adapt approach to meeting the requirements, innovating and negotiating with others as necessary.
* Ideally, have knowledge of the RIBA Stages and approach in the best practice delivering of facilities and infrastructure projects to time, cost and quality.
* A degree or equivalent qualification in an appropriate engineering or management discipline, however, we would consider HNC / HND with a wealth of experience in a defence or other facilities and infrastructure environment.
* APMP/APMPQ or PRINCE 2 qualified
What else do I need to know?
You will work 36 hours per week Monday to Friday with flexible working. You must have the legal right to work in the UK and be subject to satisfactory Security Clearance which includes 5 years reference checks.
