Job Description:

Job Purpose:

* Structuring hybrid capital for banks, insurers and corporates

* Advising on the DCM impact of regulatory developments

Job Background/context:

Temporary contract (maternity leave cover).  The role is within Debt Capital Markets
Together with the DCM Coverage teams, CSS helps clients (mostly investment-grade borrowers) issue hybrid capital and MREL/TLAC instruments into the international fixed income markets

Key Responsibilities:

* Helping to advise clients on optimal capital structure and impact of regulatory developments

* Structuring/executing transactions and preparing/reviewing transaction documentation

* Working closely with other BCMA/TEG/Legal teams

* Modelling/analysing client balance sheets and capital requirements

* Keeping BCMA teams up to date with regulatory/rating agency developments

* Helping to manage and develop junior members of CSS

The role provides a blend of regulatory, structuring and marketing experience with a market-leading team in a demanding environment.  Please note that this is a temporary role, providing cover during maternity leave

Candidate Requirements:

Knowledge/Experience:

* Extensive years of experience in regulatory capital / capital markets / investment banking

* Previous legal, accounting, tax and/or rating agency experience would be an advantage, but not essential

* Fluent English is a prerequisite.  Other languages would be an advantage but not essential

Skills:

* Requires high calibre analytical skills, commercial judgement and written/verbal communication skills

* Strong comfort with numerical / modelling / analytical tasks

* Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure

* Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel & PowerPoint

* Ability to manage junior staff

Qualifications: 

* Graduate degree

Competencies:

* Strong technical skills and understanding of relevant regulations

* Enthusiastic/ confident/ outgoing

* Professional and competent

* Good team player

* Initiative/ adaptability/ innovation

Candidates applying for this role must be aware that it is a Certified Role, subject to the Certification Regime. The Certification Regime is one element of the Individual Accountability Regime which has come into effect on 7 March 2016.
