Would you like to work in a challenging environment on multi-million pound contracts that support the future of the Royal Navy? We currently have a vacancy for a Procurement Manager within the Type 26 Combat Systems team at our site in Filton.
As a Combat Systems Procurement Manager, you will have day-to-day accountability and management of contracts ranging in size of £10m to £140milion as well as the responsibility to direct and manage all the assigned procurement / supply chain activities associated with the Type 26 Combat Systems programme. You will engage and support key stakeholders on activities to generate, negotiate, place and manage major contracts with selected suppliers and maintain an effective rapport with the current supplier base.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong contract management experience, preferably within a complex systems' driven environment, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders both internal and external, as well as the ability to lead a team in contract and commercial excellence.
Your main responsibilities as a Procurement Manager will involve:
Managing the overall performance of nominated contracts ensuring timely execution of those contracts to required standards and costs
Providing support guidance and effective management to an assigned procurement team
Engaging and supporting stakeholders on activities to generate negotiate and place contracts with suppliers. Activities include agreed scope definition, contracting frameworks, prices and delivery schedules
Manage and provide inputs to the monthly business reporting cycle including effective procurement support and presentation at monthly reviews
Your skills and qualifications:
Ability to project manage an evolving work scope and to effect positive cooperation from Customers, Suppliers and colleagues and to direct within the team, the required strategies to be implemented for the successful contracting methodologies
Provide technical and personal leadership to team members
Be the team procurement/ Supply Chain subject matter expert
Lead the team in contract and commercial excellence
Manage and resolve disputes
What we're looking for in you:
To be successful in this role we are looking for an adaptable candidate who is both trustworthy and driven. You will show excellent communication skills both verbal and written. You will be able to demonstrate a sound commercial background in managing major subcontracts and be approachable to other team members. You will also have good stakeholder relationship skills.
Salary: Up to £55K with associated package dependent upon experience
