Assistant Asset Management Operational Analyst, Private Real Estate, HIMCO
HIMCO (The Hartford Investment Management Company) is seeking an Assistant Asset Management Operational Analyst to support operational and analytical activities for a $14B+ private real estate portfolio of equity and debt investments. The Assistant Analyst will provide investment operational support to the Private Real Estate team and perform analytical work across a group of real estate assets, including debt, equity, and fund investments. The role partners closely with multiple internal functional areas in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This position is based in our Hartford, CT office on a full-time, hybrid schedule (three days in the office; two days remote).

Responsibilities:
* Assist in reducing operational risk for the Private Real Estate team by supporting best execution for clients, improving asset performance, and managing risk within the approved strategies.
* Support data analysis and reconciliation, accounting-related initiatives, client reporting, and technology enhancements; contribute to business continuity analytics, internal/external audits, Compliance support, and special projects.
* For the active commercial mortgage loan (CML) portfolio, partner with the loan servicer to ensure timely processing of debt service payments and completion of required insurance placement and insurance risk monitoring; verify annual property inspections and address servicing projects.
* Work with the Closing team to facilitate new loan and equity closings, including tracking legal documents, financial statements, and settlement statement details to support a smooth post-closing transition to Asset Management.
* Review quarterly reports and capital activity notices for real estate limited partner (LP) funds and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) investments.
* Support the team in managing real estate debt and equity assets across property types including multifamily, industrial, office, retail, and self-storage.
* Support debt asset management activities, including tracking loan performance; analyzing key risk metrics; assisting with collateral valuations; and performing loan risk rating reviews across fixed- and floating-rate structures. Assist Asset Managers in responding to borrower requests, evaluating potential modifications, and coordinating follow-up actions.
* Assist with construction loan administration, including draw processing, monitoring, and ongoing risk evaluation.
* Support the asset management of joint venture equity investments, including coordination and oversight of any third-party debt associated with these assets.
* Assist with equity asset management activities, including valuations and asset summaries; annual budgeting; monitoring construction/renovation projects; reviewing rent rolls, lease expirations, and tenant credit; tracking operating expenses; and overseeing capital expenditures.
* Provide timely, accurate updates and responsive client service related to managed assets, as needed.
* Collaborate with other members of Private Real Estate to share ideas and best practices, and support department- and company-wide initiatives and special projects, as needed.
* Demonstrate strong ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, positive team culture.

Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required. Coursework in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate Investments, and/or other investment asset types is preferred.
* Basic understanding of Real Estate Accounting , GAAP Reporting and financial statements (including property-level operating statements, balance sheets, and borrower-specific financials). Tenant credit analysis is a plus.
* Knowledge of investment accounting and investment operations is beneficial.
* Commercial real estate or related finance experience is a plus, including internship experience.
* Understanding of fundamental drivers across real estate sectors is a plus (e.g., multifamily, industrial, office, and retail).
* Familiarity with major U.S. geographic markets and/or third-party research and online data sources is a plus (e.g., CoStar, Green Street, CBRE research).
* Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables across teams while meeting deadlines.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency with Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications (e.g., PowerPoint).
* Familiarity with AI-assisted tools (such as CoPilot) to improve efficiency and accuracy in processes, research, and reporting is a plus.

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$80,001 - $94,999
